The snowpack is moist and its surface has a melt-freeze crust that is barely capable of bearing a load, especially on steep sunny slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. In some regions 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Saturday above approximately 2200 m.
